Using PS3 MOVE motion controller in PC (windows 11 2026)

Ivory brings home an old PS3 motion control. I never actually care or interested in it but I was curious and up for challenge of what I can do with it. The motion controller was include :

  • PlayStation Move Motion Controller, The wand-like controller with the glowing sphere that tracks your movement.
  • PlayStation Eye Camera: Plugs into the PS3 and tracks the ball on the controller to determine its position in 3D space.
  • Navigation Controller: A one-handed controller with a thumb-stick and buttons, used for movement and actions in many games, as the Motion Controller lacks these

He bring back all of these BUT there were no wires and me and him both don't have any what so ever experience with these kind of device/system. So we had to learn and get the wires for the device. The device are Mini-USB - USB Data Cable something like:

Bought like 2 for the motion controller.

Okay after everything was gathered and available to install. I try to install the driver and googled and YouTube a lot of tutorials AND MOST OF IT DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. I thought it was my PC's security or the tutorial doesn't work anymore...so, I was thinking like maybe it's impossible now as these device was like 14 years old. Like this is PS3 nowadays people use PS5.

Anyway in the end, I got my luck thanks to NOT QUITTING. The driver/plugin I was using was last updated by Sep 29, 2018. Then I found another ONE, a newer fork by different Dev called Externet. Sorry if my info is wrong or weird, I'm not really high intel about these stuff. The author/dev is very active and trustworthy :3 so I tried. I am shocked I never seen the tutorial shows this web (yet).

Heres the web-link:

Steps are pretty simple and easy for this one because the maker made it easy. You just need to click the download and install button like the image above. And after you did that the app will restart and the download prompt will be removed like:

Attach your motion controllers and PS eye and RUN SERVICE.

usually I would get this on the available service devices section:

Then run the Service Config Tool. Which will open another window like this:

Click onto the Controller Settings and connect the device. BLUETOOTH IS NECESSARY IF I'M NOT WRONG.
Press the PAIR button,

If you succeed pairing it and all you would see something like this where you have 3 device now.

You can  calibrate and test blablabla... I am sorry I reach to my limit of writing it in 30 minutes ahahhaa but I may update this guide and post later or make like follow-up post about what I will do with this controller. I wont expect someone would be interest in this post as the device is pretty old and all but if there is someone wanna me improve or update it, I would listen and make the guide better.

But for now Imma say IT WORKS AND IT WORKS WELL, I HAVE TESTED IT.
